Family!
Everything in life can be an adventure, just like this photo of my family and myself while at Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. We love exploring new things, especially in the classroom!

Kayak adventures!
I am a true Florida native! That's right, born and raised in Holly Hill, went to school at Holly Hill Elementary, Holly Hill Junior High School, and Mainland High School. Like many natives, my favorite hobbies revolve around the outdoors; kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, mountain biking, and swimming. As my background is in construction, I also have a passion for home renovation projects, which keeps me very busy!
However, I truly love education and teaching children. My inspiration for becoming a teacher began with my oldest daughter, Kristen. When she was in elementary school I occasionally chaperoned field trips or brought in birthday cupcakes. I found the school environment refreshing, and learned from teachers how to help kids become excited about learning. I began teaching a century ago, starting with 3rd grade in February of 1993! Since then I have taught 4th and 5th grade, worked at the district as a project manager and teacher trainer, and even left teaching several times to write grants and provide teacher training all over the country.
I still receive inspiration from my family; my wife is a nurse practitioner in the oncology field, and I have 4 children; Kristen, Kayla, Luke, and Sarah. We live in beautiful Ormond Beach, Florida, and continue to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible!
